Well, I’m very glad I decided to go to my grandfather’s 85th birthday party. It turns out it was a surprise one for him, and about 20 or so people from both families showed up to wish him well. Both he and his wife Mary were very touched by the event, and it appears the routine they’ve gotten into at the retirement home has helped both out immensely. It appears the medication they’re both getting on a consistent orderly basis has done a good job in improving their particular heath conditions. Mary is back to her usual feisty self, and my grandfather in particular was in a very jovial mood, and did seem to remember or know who lot of the people were. He did address me by my name, so I was pleased - though I’m told he’s probably relying on his longer-term memory to know who I am - short term memory gets destroyed first by Alzheimers. Still, he’s on a drug that is some sort of memory-enhancer, so for now it appears to have stalled the disease a bit.
Unfortunately, I appear to have consumed something my system didn’t agree with - I’ve had some sort of allergic reaction in both my eyes - both were/are almost swelled shut, and I look like I’ve been in a fight with someone - very bloodshot.. and also very itchy. Consequently, I don’t feel up to traveling at the moment, so i’ll probably be hanging out with my folks til the Labour Day weekend. I’ll be around, just not as much. (I suspect staring at a computer screen isnt the best thing to be doing for swollen eyes anyhow.

That substance could be all that bourbon and that means you probably were in a fight, you mean drunk!
